2010

2010 was another yearful of college excursions, football, music, new destinations and old ones. Let’s have a look at what that actually involved. Lots of schools….probably the height of our taking British schools abroad period. The first visit to Italy and the first Euro funded link between our twin towns by Dagmar Mega and her Family centre workers

Jan 18-22 Dagmar Mega visits Bridgwater to plans czech family centre visits funded through Leonardo money and linking with family Centres

Feb 6-11 Adam Kidson and Bridgwater College to Prague

March 1- 4 Mino Di Francesco and his college media students join us on a visit to Prague including the Barrandov film studios

March  8-12 Richard Huish College social work students led by Liz Truman to Prague and Czech republic

March 21- 25 Richard Huish College led by Richard bethell students to Slovenia and Croatia

April14 -18 Ljuba Medak and Slovenian students visit Somerset

April 26-29 Kevin Smokcum and Bridgwater College special needs caterers to Poland and Slovakia

May 15-18 Yvette Staelens choir VOICE OF THE PEOPLE visit Prague and Moravia.

May 31 – 3 June  Jane Whiteheads Bridgwater College health and social carestudents to Prague

June 19-27 Eva kordova brings Ceske Budejovice students  and stays at huntstile farm

July 18-31 Jo Cox brings Shrewsbury social work students to Uherske Hradiste for euro funded project

August 13-22 Zdena Biggsova and Kladno teachers on a 2 minibus round ireland trip. Drivers included Brian Smedley and Nigel Carter

August 29- September 13  Dagmars Leonardo funded group visit Bridgwater and work in family centres

September 14- 22 Czech rock tour with Cut Nancy, Run from Robots. Ferry to ostend through the night to Prague and gigs at XT3 Prague, Mir Klub Uherske Hradiste plus Kladno and plzen. There was also a football element.

October 21-24 Bridgwater International football tour plus Altech to Priverno in Italy. Bill Monteith attended as mayor with a view to a future twinning
