Easter 2024 Trip to Denmark & Sweden

So………..we finally went to Scandinavia. 17 of us went flying from Bristol to Copenhagen (Denmark) and stayed at the Hotel Absalon (very near central station and in the red light area) and at one point we popped over the oresund bridge to Malmo in Sweden.

Denmark is quite expensive. It’s true. But a good tip is getting the ‘copenhagen card’ which allows you to use all public transport and has free entrance to dozens of sites of interest plus the very worthwhile canal cruise trip.

The trip across the bridge to Sweden is simple. Takes about 40 minutes and trains leave every 10 minutes or so. Malmo certainly  is a lot cheaper than Copenhagen, the station is in the centre of the city and a 15 minute walk takes you to the MalmoSlot castle which is very interesting and includes a bargain priced lunch offer.

Highlights of Copenhagen include the Tivoli gardens – although rides aren’t included in the card access is and you have to try the wonderful Cakenhagen cafe, Nyhavn the multi coloured harbourside quay and the changing of the guards from the Rosenburg palace to the Amalienburg palace as you can follow them through the streets.

I’d recomend also the Workers museum, the Museum of Danish resistance , the War Museum and the Tuborg Classic.

What I wouldn’t recomend is the little Mermaid (which you can see from the canal cruise better) and the Ripleys Believe it or Not have a laugh at fat people museum. But maybe I shouldn;t have stood still for so long………..

Either way, Bridgwater International is now happy to organise trips to Denmark and Sweden…RØLL UP..RØLL UP…
