When we twinned with UH in 1992 it was still Czechoslovakia..but the next year it divided into 2 countries. Czech Republic and Slovakia. So now we had 2 twins! Thanks to the work of Slovak ,Milos Salus we maintained our links with the eastern end of the former Czechoslovakia and in particular with his home district of the High Tatra Mountains, just above the Northern city of Poprad.

You can get to the High Tatras by flying direct from Luton to Poprad or by taking a night train from Prague or by driving up the north face from Krakow.

The mountains are wild and full of trees and bears. The hillsides are great for skiing and the electric railway that travels around the Mountains links together the towns of Smokovec, Strbske Pleso and Tatranska Lomnica.
